Even though intentionally spreading HIV to another person is against the law in Kenya, a few women have done so with careless knowledge.

According to Section 24 of the HIV and AIDS Prevention and Control Act, everyone who knows they have HIV must take all reasonable steps to avoid the spread of the virus to others and disclose their status to anyone with whom they would have intercourse or share needles.

The act of intentionally and recklessly putting another person at risk of contracting HIV is prohibited by subsection (2).

A criminal offence that violates these rules is punishable by up to seven years in jail and/or a fine.

In accordance with section 24(7), a medical professional who learns of a patient’s HIV status may disclose such information to anyone who has sexual contact with the patient.

Following is a list of Kenyan women who intentionally exposed unsuspecting males to HIV.

Jackline Njoki Mwangi

Jackline When Njoki Mwangi, also known as Kiki wa Ng’endo, was 19 years old and living in Mombasa, she discovered she was HIV positive for the first time.

To make ends meet, she decided to become a prostitute. Mwangi said it was their right to protect themselves and allowed her clients to sleep with her unprotected.

Mwangi stated that because a man who didn’t bother to protect her also infected her with the virus, she was also showing politeness to the men who slept with her unprotected.https://www.youtube.com/embed/9ggcwrtOOQM?showinfo=0
