We all know that getting a good night’s sleep is crucial to feeling and functioning your best, but there’s actually a lot more going on during sleep than you might suspect.

When we shut our eyes to fall asleep, we begin to relax and fall into a very light sleep.

Our eyes begin to move left and right, back and forth, very slowly, many times, and very smoothly. It’s called “slow rolling eye movements”

The most interesting part of our body that changes during sleep is our brain.

During stage one sleep, our brains start to produce slightly bigger waves, and fewer of them.

Here are some of the things that happens to our body after we sleep.

1. Your body produces a range of hormones while you sleep

2. Your skin might renew itself overnight

3. Our nervous system relaxes and the body temperatures drops

4.Our body muscles become paralyzed, more or less

5. Our brain starts off in light sleep and then moves to deeper sleep later
