Few years ago, serial killer Phillip Onyancha admitted to killing 19 people without a known motive. He was detained in detention following his 2010 arrest until his case was concluded in 2018.
After killing a young child aged 9 as the 19th victim, things did not go well for him. This led to his arrest and subsequent confession of killing 19 people.
In response to inquiries from the High Court in Nairobi, Phillip Onyancha admitted that a cult had forced him to take certain actions. His victims were mostly women, particularly prostitutes.
When he encountered them, they did not immediately oppose him, which is how he came to kill them. He was later found to have a strong dislike of women due to being repeatedly sexually abused by a caregiver when he was a young child. He grew to hate women as a result. As demanded by the cult, he would sip the blood from his victims after they were killed.
He was a member of a cult that taught that killing many of people would bring him prosperity and good fortune. He further disclosed that he was coerced into joining the cult while still a student by one of his instructors. Also, the teacher was detained and interrogated.
Phillip Onyancha was apprehended after reporting to the authorities that he had sent money to a suspected kidnapper and making contact with the father of 9-year-old Anthony Njirua.
The fact that the authorities were able to monitor the phone used to send the money allowed them to find him. Only after being locked up did he admit to his other murders.
Onyancha, who was convicted in 2018, is now a changed man, even a preacher in prison, according to an interview with K24 TV. Even his appearance has undergone a total makeover.
Onyancha was found guilty of the accusations leveled against him and given a 12-year prison term. The prosecution is still building a case against Onyancha even though he is currently serving his sentence. He is presently a prisoner at Kamiti, which has the greatest level of security.
