Meet The Woman Who Defied Traditions And Married A Nine Year Old Boy Infront Of His Husband And Kids

In 2013, a nine-year-old South African boy married his 62-year-old “wife,” making him one of the world’s youngest grooms for the second time.

The blushing bride’s home in Ximhungwe, Mpumalanga, South Africa, hosted the second marriage ceremony this time, according to the Daily Mail, in front of about 100 guests.

Unconvinced neighbors watched as the married mother of five shared a piece of cake, made a toast, and kissed her young husband Sanele as well as her 66-year-old longtime partner Alfred Shabangu.

The schoolboy from a nearby Tshwane married Helen the year before, claiming that he had been instructed by his deceased relatives to do so.

Surprisingly, his family paid £500 for the bride and an additional £1,000 for the wedding after taking the word from above seriously.

Sanele, the youngest of the couple’s five children, would not relent until the couple followed South African customs, insisting they hold a second ceremony to formally declare their marriage.

The ceremony was described as “sickening” by the bewildered townspeople, but the boy’s family insisted that the union was only symbolic and not binding on the law.

Bride Helen, whose children vary in age from 38 to 28, claimed she was still content with the arrangement despite being old enough to be his grandmother.

Sanele and his bride are not legally bound to live together because they did not exchange wedding vows.

Both weddings were attended by the couple’s five children as well as Alfred, Helen’s companion of 30 years and a builder.
