The Honorable For his participation in the anti-colonial movement, Kenyan politician Paul Joseph Ngei was sentenced to prison. He was born on October 18th, 1923 in the Kenyan township of Kiima Kimwe, which is close to Machakos.
He was detained in 1952 as one of the “Kapenguria Six” and dubbed Lokitaung Prison “St. Lucifer’s Monastery of Lokitaung” since there were “no ladies, drink, or cigarettes.”
Ngei allegedly wrote Margaret, Kenyatta’s daughter, a series of love letters while he was detained, confessing his romantic feelings for her, according to Kenyatta’s journal, which was written by author Jeremy Murray-Brown. Ngei reportedly wrote Margaret love letters that were written in exquisite Kiswahili and were loaded with passionate language, according to the publication.
Jomo unintentionally came across them since he forgot to adequately hide them after writing them. He then turned to face him and cried out: “Please, what are you going to say right now?
