The late Reriani was the only surviving brother to Gachagua after the passing of the former Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua back in 2017, and that of James Reriani Gachagua in May 2022.
Kenyan politician Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua has been the country’s vice president since 2022. As a member of the Jubilee Party, he previously represented the Mathira Constituency in parliament from 2017 to 2022. Gachagua served as William Ruto’s running mate in the 2022 election, and the pair won with slightly over 50% of the vote.
Education and Early Life
From 1971 to 1977, he attended Kabiruini Primary School before transferring to Kianyaga High School to complete his O- and A-levels. He enrolled at the University of Nairobi in 1985 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and Literature there in 1988.

Gachagua served as the chairman of the Association of Literary Students and the Nyeri District University Students Association (NDUSA) at the University of Nairobi.
The deputy president claims that Reriani, his elder brother paid for his secondary education and frequently offered advice on a variety of topics, including leadership.
